Granada is one of the 8 provinces making up Andalucia along with Seville, Almeria, Huelva, Jaen, Córdoba, Málaga and Cádiz. The province includes the capital city of Granada, a World Heritage site, home to the Alhambra Palace and gardens, and also Andalucía´s highest mountains, the snow capped Mulhacén and Veleta peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The northern slopes are home to Pradollano (Sol y Nieve) ski resort while Las Alpujarras, a series of wooded valleys with ancient whitewashed villages and terraces of citrus, almond trees and olive groves, lies south of Granada.
To the west of the Sierra Nevada is the oustanding scenery of the Loja region, a scenic back road to Malága and the Axarquía region. To the east, amongst dusty hills lie Guadix and Baza on the rolling sierras with fields of wheat, pastures and fruit orchards, famous for cave dwellings.
With great communications, climate, beaches, and snowy mountains, Granada is a popular destination for cultural and adventure tourism, learning and business, with regular flights from many European cities to its airport. Many people choose to rent property and buy property in Granada. It is said that you can ski in the Sierra Nevada in the morning and swim on the Costa Tropical the same afternoon.

The Costa Tropical and Lecrin Valley enjoy a mediterranean climate. The Costa Tropical is the name given to Granada’s 60 km of coastline; much of which is very tranquil with attractive towns, such as Albondon, Albuñol, Motril, Salobreña and Almunecar and panoramic stretches of coast.
The Lecrin Valley, on the southwestern slopes of the Sierra Nevada among deep ravines and mountain scenery, stretches from the coast to Granada city. There are a many villages scattered among the hillsides rich with vines, cherry, almonds and olive groves: Padul, Durcal, Velez de Benaudalla, Los Guájares, are the largest.
Guadix and Baza regions are in the north of the province, with high plains, green fertile valleys and rugged sierras (Huétor, Baza, Castril, la Sagra and Cazorla) hiding traditional towns, many with cave dwellings. At Guadix, 30 mins down from Baza, motorways from Murcia, Almeria, and Granada cities converge.
Granada City is a stunningly beautiful city, overlooked by the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Alhambra Palace and gardens, where nature and architecture are in perfect balance. The steep hills and narrow streets and inner gardens of the Albaicin and Sacramonte are peaceful with low traffic. The Solynieve Pradollano ski resort (45 downhill runs totalling 65km) near Monachil is one of many small villages in countryside near Granada city; Iznalloz, Beas and Quentar to name a few.
The Alpujarras the southern facing valleys of the Sierra Nevada, has a rural culture long disappeared from other parts of Spain. From Laroles in the east, through Valor, Yegen, Mecina Bombaron and Berchules to Trevelez, Bubion and Lanjaron are many steep, whitewashed villages with spectacular views and mountain scenery. Ugijar, Torvizcon, Orgiva and Cadiar are the main towns and lie in the valley bottom.
