The Costa Calida is the name of the coast of the province of Murcia stretching from Orihuela Costa in the north, where the Costa Blanca begins, down through La Manga and Mar Menor to Aguilas in the south near the Costa de Almeria. Cheap flights to San Javier (Murcia) International airport has made the Mar Menor towns popular for golf and watersports.

La Manga del Mar Menor
Starting in the north, on the shores of the Mar Menor are San Pedro del Pinatar with el Mojón beach, San Javier with Murcia International airport and nearby Los Alcazares with marinas and Serena Golf Resort and Torre Pacheco. The Mar Menor is a coastal lake of warm salt water measuring 170 km ² with an average depth of 3.5 metres separated from the sea by La Manga del Mar Menor, a strip of sand 22km long, with over 44km of hotels, holiday properties, beach bars, campsites, restaurants and seaview properties in the protected bays and coves of Veneziola, el Oasis, Punta Seca, el Bolondo, el Pedrucho, Euromanga, Manga beach and la Embestida.

South of the resorts of the Mar Menor region is Natural Park and the coast is untouched until the large bay of Portman a few km from the natural harbour and ancient seaport of Cartagena. The undeveloped coastline continues south with beaches and coves until the puerto de Mazarron with more than 35km of unspoilt beaches (including Cabo Thioso and Punta Calnegre) and coves accessable from resorts such as San Gines, Isla Plana, Bahia and Playasol where marinas, water sports and Sensol Golf Resort make tourism, buying and renting property popular. Aguilas, an ancient fishing harbour, is made up of 2 bays separated by a rocky headland. There are 28km of different beaches, many unspoilt and secluded beaches, situated in one of the least developed coastal areas of southern Spain: Calabardina, Todosol, Los Geranios and Calariona are modest resorts. The nearest golf courses are in the neighbouring province of Almeria, including Valle del Este and Desert Springs, half an hour away. The Costa Calida combines historic towns and numerous beaches and coves in beautiful landscapes with sporting and recreational facilities attracting people to rent holiday accommodation and to buy property.
