The Costa Brava attracts
colossal numbers of visitors each summer who
come to experience the beautiful climate and
the lure of the Mediterranean sea. From the
package resorts in Sant Feliu and Roses, to
the fishing villages and sheltered bays in the
more remote spots, the Costa Brava is sometimes
dubbed the Costa Bella – the beautiful
coast.
In the Pyrenees, of course, the temperature
is much cooler and in the winter, people flock
to Girona to take advantage of its Pyrenean
ski resorts when the snow falls. This wild area
of Girona is equally alluring in the summer,
the rugged mountains and green valleys offering
a wealth of opportunity for hiking, nature watching
and a variety of mountain sports.
The historic town of Girona with its ancient
streets and buildings is irresistible to lovers
of architecture, as are the hundreds of unique
Romanesque buildings that are scattered through
the remote countryside villages of Girona. And
for art lovers, the town of Figueres, Dalí’s
birthplace, is not to be missed. |
